Barbara Cole - Attorney
Barbara Cole joined the team at Jacobson Law in 2015 as an attorney. Prior to joining the firm, Barbara spent eight years in the Office of the Solicitor General for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. During that time, Barbara represented the Band in a wide range of areas, including housing, construction contracting, employment, child protection, and appellate work. She also served for a year as interim Solicitor General where she managed the Department of Justice, including the Office of Solicitor General, Mille Lacs Band Member Legal Aid Department, Tribal Police Department, and Department of Public Safety. She has advised elected and appointed officials on tribal, state, and federal matters. Before working for the Band, Barbara worked for a small law office in the Twin Cities that specialized in Indian law, civil rights, and criminal defense.
Barbara received a B.S. with Comprehensive Honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Political Science and Women’s Studies and is a cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School.
Barbara is the Secretary of the Board of Directors for MIGIZI Communications, Inc., where she also serves on the Strategic Approach Team. She is a special member of the Minnesota American Indian Bar Association and has served on many committees, including the Native Law Student Enrollment and CLE Committees. She is admitted to the practice of law in the State of Minnesota, the Mille Lacs Band Court of Central Jurisdiction, and the United States Federal District Court for the District of Minnesota.
